Home Extension Poynton

Home Extension Poynton – An Affordable Option

There is one form of home extension that is growing in popularity in Poynton and the surrounding area – a home extension that is durable, affordable, creates minimal disruption and can be built to match any plans.

The extension we refer to is a Structurally Insulated Panel System (SIP). As the name implies, this is a system whereby structurally insulated panels are fitted together to make a superb, seamless whole.

Extension Kitz Extension.

While not yet the most common form of extension in the UK, this is a style that has been used for decades elsewhere, including in the United States and much of Scandinavia.

We can supply your extension as a Kit which you can build yourself or we can arrange for an installation team to install it for you.

At PCL, we are proud to be manufacturers and installers of this form of extension. We have a proven track record and universally positive reviews – on the allchecked.com website – home to verified, impartial reviews – we average 4.9 out of five, and every one of our 52 reviews is positive.

Please do take the time to read our reviews, many of which also include photos both of the project being undertaken and then the finished work.

We believe that a SIPs extension is perfect for Poynton for the following reasons.

Benefits of SIPs Home Extensions in Poynton

Durability

There is a misconception that a panel-style extension cannot match the robustness of bricks and mortar.

The reality is that, while bricks and mortar are of course robust, so too is a well-made panel-style extension. Our SIPs extensions, built in our 40,000-square factory, have three times the durability of a traditional build. Put simply, you will not have to worry about the extension once it is in situ.

The fact that this style of extension is so common in Scandinavia and much of the US showcases its ability to cope with any climate; certainly, the Cheshire climate in Poynton will not be of concern.

Thermal Efficiency

The panels have a solid core of insulation which ensures the room stays within a pleasant range, with the additional benefit of there being no ‘hot spots’ created. It is worth noting that SIPs extensions are growing in popularity largely in part because of their greater efficiency and government drives to promote more efficient means of building.

A SIPs system uses fewer resources than traditional methods but also leaves the homeowner often having to use less energy to keep the room heated.

There are further details on SIPs construction below.

Made to match any plans

The panel system is hugely versatile – we can create an extension to make any plans. The panels are typically 1220mm wide and up to 5.1 meters in length. They are cut to shape and fitted together, with doors and windows added.

The system actually makes it possible to have designs that would be difficult to produce using bricks and mortar, for instance, there are sloping roof panels, which can create a stunning internal design that utilises every last square foot of space to its maximum.

A high-quality finish

Externally, a finish is applied that ensures the extension blends in with the rest of the property – brick slip is the most common but coloured or timber cladding and renders options are also popular.

A higher range of internal finishes and finishing touches are available too.

Limited time spent on site

We cut the panels to size at our factory, this limits time on site for the preparation of the ground and then final installation.

The structure and insulation are provided in one, all within the panel system, as the SIP panels consist of an insulating polystyrene core that is sandwiched between two structural facings. This helps to fast-track the creation of an extension that is structurally sound and energy efficient.

Faster construction means less time spent on site, less disruption for the homeowner and the extension can be enjoyed that bit sooner.

They are an option that makes financial sense

The Poynton housing market, as with much of Cheshire, is always competitive and fast moving.

Adding an extension is typically a sound financial move, the work more than paying for itself by adding to property value.

An extension is also far cheaper than moving house to gain extra space – this even more true with SIPs extensions.

About Poynton

A town in Cheshire, Poynton has a population of 14,000 and is 11 miles outside Manchester.

In recent years, the town’s population has grown steadily, this due to it becoming a commuter town to the city centre – a train line directly connecting the two being key to this growth.
