Home Extension Altrincham – Affordable Extensions PCL Building Products

For anyone considering a home extension for their Altrincham home, a SIPs extension can be a superb option.

In this page, we will explain why this option can be preferable to a more traditional bricks and mortar extension.

SIPs extensions are built using panels that fit together, this approach helps to make them competitive on price and reduce upheaval but without compromising on quality or durability.

PCL Extension 2

While not the most common form of extension in the UK, they have been used heavily in the United States and Scandinavia for many decades; this helps to demonstrate their quality – if a SIPs extension can withstand the conditions in the US or Scandinavia, then the Trafford climate is unlikely to pose a problem.

However, we appreciate that there can be natural concerns – can an extension that is quicker to install really match the longevity of those made from bricks?

The Benefits of SIPs Extensions For Altrincham Home Owners

They are built to last

This is, quite naturally, the first question many ask – is a SIPs extension durable?

The answer is that they are three times stronger than traditional builds  – they are not a home improvement you should have to worry about. On completion, you have quality extra space that will be of use for as long as you remain on the property.

They are designed to withstand the winds, rain, snow and extreme temperature swings of areas of the United States and Scandinavia.

They can be built to match any plans

The insulated panels are typically 1220mm wide and up to 5.1 metres in length – they are cut to size and then fitted together to create any desired design.

In fact, they have far more versatility than a traditional building method, for instance, sloping roof panels are available to create wonderful spaces that make full use of every last square foot.

Windows and doors are fitted as per the plans, and internal and external finishes are applied. Brick slip is the most popular external finish but coloured or timber cladding is also common, so too rendered finishes.

The end result is an extension that looks to be of standard construction, is as durable as any extension yet costs less and is quicker to install.

The extension can be used for any purpose

This is not an extension that is less usable than other options, it won’t be too hot in the summer or cold in winter.

The thermal efficiency ensures the room remains usable all year round and for any purpose. SIPs extensions are used as home offices, home gyms, extra lounges and many other uses besides.

They are an option that makes financial sense

The Altrincham housing market is always competitive, Trafford of course boasting superb schools, wonderful housing stock and excellent transport links to Manchester and beyond.

Adding an extension to an Altrincham home is always a good financial option – if done well the work will typically pay for itself and much more besides.

Even if moving house is not on the agenda, there is still the benefit of adding additional space for far less cost than would be the case if moving.

An extension in Altrincham is an investment.

They are an option that is friendly to the environment

The move towards modular panel-based extensions is partly driven by a global desire to find building methods that deliver quality building but with less impact on the environment.

SIPs extensions lead the way, they are panels that use less timbre than other options, and they deliver the benefits of any other system but without using up so many precious resources.

How Are SIPs Extensions Constructed?

SIPs extensions utilise a panel system, with each panel comprising an insulating polystyrene core sandwiched between two structural facings. These panels are strong and also thermally efficient.

On-site, the panels are fitted together, with windows, door and roof also added.

The panels are built off-site to the precise measurements taken during the on-site survey.
